Arhus’ most popular attraction is Den Gamle By, an open air museum, housing replicas of important buildings from all over Denmark. Århus Domkirke, Denmark’s tallest cathedral and the Arhus City Hall are known for their unique construction.
The ‘Arhus Festuge’, literally translated as Arhus Party Week, takes over the city in the first week of September. Theatre, operas, concerts, sports meets, exhibitions and other entertainment activities are packed into this annual art and cultural festival.
An Arabic themed marketplace, Bazaar West is reflective of the various international cultures that now inhabit the city.
There are over 500 cafés and multiple discos, amusement parks and cinemas to cater to Arhus’ large student population. Forests extend into the city from the south and the landscape is dotted with farms and meadows.
