The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore is named as the Basilica of Saint Mary Major and is an ancient Roman Catholic basilica of Rome. This historic building is also one of the four papal basilicas, which along with St. Lawrence outside the walls, were formerly called as the five ‘patriarchal basilicas’ of Rome. At present, the archpriest of this basilica is Cardinal Bernard Francis Law.
